In just a few weeks, The Hester Street Fair will be opening its gates for the 2011 Season and the Fair is starting things off with a delicious launch. On opening day, Saturday, May 7, the Fair will feature a mini food festival with some of the best indie food stars the city has to offer. The first ever, Lower FEAST Side Food Festival, in partnership with the Lower East Side Business Improvement District and the New Museum’s Festival of Ideas for the New City will be celebrating the new and returning stars of the Hester Street Fair.
In addition to the food, of course, the market will be open as well, with an incredible mix of eclectic and unique items, hand made or passionately collected by local artists and designers. It’s a perfect way to ring in Spring (finally!) and also a special way to celebrate Mother’s Day– pick up a beautiful gift for the moms in your life. Both parts of the market celebrate the great entrepreneurial spirit of New York’s creative community. All selections are made on very simple criteria…it is good, it is made by people who have passion for what they do and it is something different or a twist on a favorite.
Most of the goods market, are first time sellers at Hester Street, bringing something fresh and new to add to many returning favorites this season. There is more vintage and jewelry, plus all natural skin care, beautifully crafted lamps, vintage house wares, crafts and a long list of hand made goods.
The Hester Street Fair will only be open on Saturdays only with Sundays reserved for special events and themed markets.
