Dear LES Merchants,
While winter may be a time to hibernate when even the LES BID office has a brief respite, we know it’s just the calm before the storm. While the weather acts up, we’re playing up our plans for the near future. Go to the website for a copy of our annual report and annual meeting presentation about what we are offering the community, including LES BID member merchants and property owners. Help us bring customers to the neighgorhood by offering a discount in the new issue of Go East. Residents, evening shoppers and business-to-business networks will be a key component to your success and we want to help. We are also here to give you an online presence, whether or not you have an existing website. Don’t forget to consult the “Members” section of website. Please fill out a LES BID offerings sheet so we know what you need.

Sincerely,
Roberto Ragone, Executive Director
Lower East Side Business Improvement District

State Senator Daniel Squadron was the keynote speaker. Merchants, residents and community representatives mingled during the evening, munching on some of the best culinary offerings of the LES. LES BID president Mark Miller and Executive Director Roberto Ragone discussed the BID’s activities of fiscal 2009, as well as future projects. Late Nights On The LES Initiative
During the month of December the Lower East Side BID encouraged merchants to stay open late for the holiday shopping season. Over 50 clothing and accessories stores participated extending their hours. The LES BID promoted the initiative on the LES website and via public newsletter and also published a print ad in the Village Voice and the Villager, listing all the stores. The Lower East Side Business Improvement District sees extended hours as an excellent way to bring potential consumers to the Lower East Side, luring visitors and residents after work, especially those coming to patronize the late night establishments.
